9th Grade Global Studies Syllabus Mr. Tepper Syllabus
Dear Students:
Welcome to the new school year! Global Studies is a two-year course. In tenth grade, we will begin the course with the Enlightenment and end it at the Modern Era.Some of the themes that we will be studying are Continuity and Change, Geography and History, Political and Social systems, Religions and Value Systems, Economics and Technology, Diversity, and Global Interaction. Quizzes and tests will be given throughout the semester. Homework will be assigned as needed.
Grades Grades will be established via point calculations; each student is responsible for earning his/her grade. All assignments, quizzes, and tests will be worth a set number of points. The student can determine his/her grade at any point in the year by following the formula:
Materials Please bring these materials to class everyday: 1. Three-ring Binder – size 1.5 inch 2. Dividers for binder organization divided into two sections: 1) Notes (with dividers for the different units) 2) Homework 3. Pens, pencils, highlighter 4. College ruled looseleaf paper - three hole
Attendance Policy In case of absence, you are responsible to make up all work. Cutting class will affect your grade.
Homework / Classwork Policy Please hand in the assignments on the day that they are due for full credit. Late homework will be accepted within 48 hours of original date for partial credit. Late or missing assignments due to excused absences may earn full credit if received in a timely manner. Assignments missed due to cutting class will be a zero.
Textbooks Please leave the textbooks in your locker or at home.

· After the third strike, student will one receive detention. · Student may be removed from the class.
· Two detentions · Student may be removed from the class. · Parent Notification
· Student will receive a referral.
Class Lateness Policy
Class Website · The class website is located at www.teptionary.com. Assignments and homework will be posted on it. The website will be updated regularly; however, things do happen that may prevent that from happening. Students are reminded they must still copy their assignments down before leaving class.
Extra Help Extra help is available Monday and Wednesday after school.
